LATIN BINOMIALS (aka Binomial Nomenclature) are the formal names given to a species of living thing using a two part naming system usually based in Latin. In everyday vernacular, we also call this the "Latin" or "scientific name." Your challenge this month is to stalk the annals of your favorite reference material (web, literature, your biology teacher, etc,) and scout out the most epic Latin binomials you can come up with.
Names for all living things (plants, animals, bacteria, etc.) will be accepted, so don't be afraid to get super esoteric…in fact, the weirder the better! Use the form below to make your entry, or if you need additional details click here for more information.
Entries due by August 31, 2014.
